Since the 2006 Australian family law reforms, it became mandatory for separating or separated parents to mediate disputes involving their children before filing an application for the courts. The process is known as Family Dispute Resolution (FDR).

    Step One: Intake & Assessment

    Our client intake process is designed to ensure a smooth and efficient start to your mediation journey. When you reach out to us, whether by phone or email, our mediators will guide you through the initial steps to help understand your needs and preferences.

    Step Two: Mediation

    If suitable, the mediation is set up to suit your circumstances and could be face to face, on line, shuttle, or legally assisted mediation.

    Mediation is a practical way for separated parents to resolve disagreements, and make arrangements for the future regarding their children.

  • Parenting Agreement or Section 60i Certificate

    Step 3: Documentation

    We document the outcome of the mediation which could include a Parenting Agreement or a Property Agreement.

    Steps can then be taken to lodge these documents with the court for consent orders. Or if mediation is not suitable or there is not a full outcome you can request a Section 60i Certificate which allows you to file an application with the family court.
